J. Cole spices up golf, with new mandatory dress code changes while on the course. "Standard golf attire is white t-shirts. Were not wearing polos anymore," J. Cole said.

After a few failed and very mediocre attempts at golf, J. Cole quits golf and says, "take me to the basketball court. "

Newfound Press, the online publishing house of the University of Tennessee Libraries, has published a new multimedia work on Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), the group of U. S. military veterans who worked to end American involvement in the Vietnam War. In "Found, Featured, then Forgotten: U. S. Network TV News and the Vietnam Veterans Against the War," UT Knoxville journalism and electronic media professor Mark Harmon gives an account of the veterans protests against the war and their depiction in the American media. Through interviews with early VVAW leaders and an examination of network television news coverage from the Vietnam era, Harmon rescues the veterans story from what he terms "the inevitable historical revisionism" that befalls social movements over time.

MIDLAND, Texas — New Zealands Danny Lee won the WNB Golf Classic on Sunday for his first Nationwide Tour title, beating Harris English with a par on the first hole of a playoff.

English, making his second pro start, won the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Invitational in July as an amateur. He tied for 49th last week in his pro debut in the Soboba Golf Classic.

The Texas Golf Hall of Fame and Municipal Golf Association announced the gift, which will be used for lighting and conversion of the first level into conference room, restroom and lounge spaces. With the citys approval, the building will be renamed, The Amy and V. H. McNutt Conference Center at the Borglum Studio.

Daltons David Noll is one stroke off the lead after Saturdays first round of stroke play qualifying in the U. S. Mid-Amateur at Shadow Hawk Golf Club and the Houstonian Golf and Country Club in Richmond, Texas, that was delayed due to weather.

Noll, playing in his sixth Mid-Am, had five birdies and two bogeys on his way to a 69 on the par -yard Shadow Hawk course and is one stroke behind Mike McCaffery of Texas, who played the same course.

It quit raining last September and really hasnt rained a significant amount since," said Travis Miller, a drought specialist with the Texas Agrilife Extension Service and a specialist with the Governors Drought Preparedness Council. "More than 90 percent of the state is in an exceptional drought or in an extreme drought. The remarkable thing is the extent and the severity of the drought combined. "

With water at a premium, golf courses – which rely on precipitation to augment wells and effluent, or reclaimed, water to keep their greens, tees and fairways alive – have restricted their irrigation schedules in accordance with mandated water-rationing orders.
